Day 4.

Today we woke up at 8am as we were allowed an extra HOUR sleep. This was because everyone was meeting in Florence instead of Campi . We left the hotel room at 8.30 after our lovely breakfast downstairs. Of course, Frankie got chocolate all over her face, again!!! After we had all finished, we all walked back up to the room and finished getting ready. At 9am we left the hotel and started to walk to the main square where there is a replica of the statue of David. When we arrived there, with everybody else, we went for a wonderful cup of hot chocolate. It tasted very different to our hot chocolate back home as it was a lot sweeter. With our hot chocolate we had some of the cafés chocolates. Yum!! After everyone had finnished their chocolate, we walked across the square to the museum. By this time it was starting to rain and it became heavier and heavier! But we soon had shelter in the town hall. We were taken on a tour and it was very interesting. The guide showed us all of the rooms that the Royal Family of Florence lived in a long time ago. We even got to meet the Duchess, but, of course there was no Duchess there so we had to travel back in time. She was very strict and when she came walking in, everyone had to curtsey or bow.  When Frankie asked her question about what type of perfume the Duchess used, she told Frankie to come up and see her. She said that Frankie's clothing was like a boys. She decided to dress her  up in something a bit more lady like.

After we had been on our adventure, we went for something to eat. We had pizza but unfortunately Miss Bell and Mrs Norton were forgotten about so by the time we had finnished ours they were just getting theirs. The pizza was beautiful and we were all full after we had eaten it. After lunch, we went on a walk to an ice cream parlour. More food!!! We were shown what happens behind the scenes and how they make ice cream. We then got to try. It was banana flavoured and it was delicious. Mmmm! Then the man gave us some of the ice cream he had made before hand. This one was chocolate and it was very tasty as well. Yum!!

Later on, we walked to a museum (Academia) where the real statue of David is kept, but first we had to go through security. When we did eventually get inside, we all looked up to it in amazement at how Michaelangelo managed to create his many master pieces. The art work was breathtaking; Madonna and child was one of our favourites. We weren't allowed to take any photographs we were told this was because it would ruin the colour of the pictures. One of the other pieces of art was of Jesus' death. The painting of Jesus told the story of his life and how he came to die on the cross. A very powerful piece. When we were finnished looking around, we had a quick look in the gift shop and we went straight home. The weather was horrible. It was still raining!! We were starting to get quite cold and we were all very tired but it didn't dampen our spirits and we sang all the way back to the hotel- ABBA being the band of choice.

When,we finally arrived back at the hotel, we were DRENCHED!!! We had 2 hours untill we had to be back at Campi Bisenzio so we spent most of that time either getting changed or getting our hair straightened. We were running late and that meant we had to run in the rain to the bus stop otherwise we would miss it. We got there in time and just caught the bus. On the bus we were chatting away when Mrs Norton nearly fell over but ended up just doing a dance and made us all laugh. We got there and it was 7:30 pm- we were early. The man who was running the music asked us to type a song into YouTube for him to play. We chose Katy Perry's song Dark Horse and more singing took place. The party began and we had lots of food! We danced and laughed until it was very late. After we finnished the food it was time to get our certificates for being there and gifts for home- we have some wonderful things to show the teachers back at school.

We were kindly given a lift back and then it was LIGHTS OUT! A very long but interesting day.

Hope everyone is well at home...... Love from us! xxxxx
